The Comtarsia Logon Client allows for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 working sessions a primary LDAP authentication directly against a LDAP Directory.
The authentication interface, which was used under NT, W2K and XP, which is based on GINA technology, was replaced by the Credential Provider based authentication method. By this occasion Comtarsia developed the new product line “Comtarsia SignOn Solutions 2008. After two years development time and several successful pilot projects, The product Comtarsia Logon Client for Vista, Server 2008 and Windows7 was released.
The Product Comtarsia SingOn Gate 2008 will be presumably available in third quarter 2009. Because of the full compatibility with the product Comtarsia SignOn Gate 2006 is the entire range of function ensured until the product comtarsia SignOn Gate 2008 is released.

The configuration of the primary desktop logon allows to offer the user only the tile of the Comtarsia Logon Client or to give the user the choice to switch to the Microsoft logon tile.

The Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) provides a specific authentication to perform application that require local administrator permissions.
With the Comtarsia Logon Client it is possible to manage (to feature) these temporary local administrator rights with LDAP Users / group memberships.
